Regional Network Engineer - GCN Customers EMEA

This is an outstanding opportunity for a high-reaching Optical Network Engineer to technically be responsible for the delivery of Ciena’s Network transformation solutions
In the role you will be an integral member of the project team consisting of the Project Lead, Sales Account team, PLM and Engineer Account Owner on delivering project for our high profile GCN Customers in EMEA
The position will benefit from the support of an experienced team welcoming you.
The role is flexible in terms of location within the EMEA region for day-to-day working and will occasionally require business travel in the region
Depending on location you have the option of working remotely from Home or your nearest Ciena office.
Your Role:
As a Regional Network Engineer for GCN Customers in EMEA you will be involved in and technically lead:
• The technical team involved in the Deployment of Ciena’s DWDM optical system networks for our GCN customers.
• The customer-facing technical team as the primary contact for complex technical discussions on network transformation; be capable of addressing large majority of customer questions.
• The Implementation of initial deployment and upgrades of Ciena Equipment on Customer’s In-Service networks without impacting the services provided to the end user.
• The planning, development of Customer modernization plans for evolving customer networks.
• The review and drive dry-runs of custom methods of procedure prior to field execution for our customers
• The oversight of all field activity related to the execution of custom methods of procedure in the customers' network
• The design of the complete user acceptance testing (UAT) producing detailed test-plan’s and acceptance criteria.
• The design, development & test of customized templates & scripts, for Ciena customers.
• The validation that proposed designs and/or solutions are technically viable and meet customer requirements.
• Coordinate partner personnel who may be delivering a portion or all of the engineering package.
Develop your Potential:
As a Regional Network Engineer for GCN Customers in EMEA you will further develop:
• A deep knowledge and understanding of optical (DWDM) transport and carrier ethernet networking equipment operation, potentially including Submarine.
• Your technical expertise and breadth of knowledge across all Ciena's product portfolio and customer requirements and standards
• Your problem solving down to the design level and then translating that back to Engineering for resolution
• Your capacity to solve complex technical issues under the stress of time constraints.
• Your potential to be the Technical Advocate for the customer to ensure outstanding customer experience.
• Your ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
• Your analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Your understanding of how to effectively support a sophisticated, next generation telecommunication network
