Job Description
At the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL), we offer community support to Autistic folks, their families and caregivers, which includes neuro-affirming programs and family events. Programming can range from Life Skills, art and recreational programs, employment readiness and social programs. Monthly family events can range from swimming, and bowling, to a movie night, etc.
Key responsibilities:
Support regional navigator to help plan, implement & facilitate at least 1 weekly program per quarter, in line with the strategic plans of the Autism Society of NL. Program should be a minimum of 8 weeks in length. Preference would be a pre-registered program. Drop-in programs would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Initiate new, and/or maintain existing, community partnerships with external community programming/ activities.
Attend community partner activities as needed.
Provide community partners with Community Partnership Agreement and have them to sign up for the Autism Acceptance and Understanding (AAU) sessions, annually or as needed.
Act as a liaison between ASNL, community partners, and the individuals, and/or their caregivers, who are enrolled in the external programming, as needed.
Plan, implement and host 1 monthly Family Event. Aim for variety over the year and always consider what the community is asking for. Consult with the regional navigator on this.
In conjunction with the regional navigator, help with planning and execution of 1 Family Summer Camp (this acts as the family event for the month).
Administrative responsibilities:
Build registration forms for programming, ensuring that ASNL’s Community Code of Ethics, and Photo Waivers are imbedded in form.
Build social media graphics using Canva templates for the promotion of programs and events.
Take photos during, community outreach initiatives, programs & events to share on our social media.
Submit quarterly reports to Director or Programs & Supports outlining participation numbers, partnerships, successes and challenges with regards to programs and engagement offerings.
Help plan, promote and support provincial fundraisers (Active for Autism, etc.), in consultation with Fund Development Officer.
Attend monthly 1 on 1 meetings with supervisor
Attend bi-weekly Program Team meetings
Attend monthly Staff meeting
Disseminate ASNL Program Feedback survey to participants or caregivers at the end of all programs
Pay: $20.00 per hour
