We are looking for a Regional Quality Assurance Lead to support the East Ontario region.

Position Summary:

As a Regional Quality Assurance Lead, you will promote public safety and ensure compliance to the TSSA Act by applying expert knowledge and participating in ASME and CSA audits and surveys as team member and preparing certificate holders for audits and surveys. You will also perform compliance audits and creates improved safety awareness of Boilers and Pressure Vessels to ensure that the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, repairs, and alterations are compliant with the TSSA Act, regulations, applicable codes, standards, and policies.

Job Responsibilities:

Exercise duties of Provincial Offenses Officer to ensure regulations are adhered to, including directing owners, operators, or other members of the public to resolve non-compliance issues up to and including ability to cease operation of boiler or pressure vessels equipment within the scope of the BPV regulations and codes.
Enhance public safety by performing the duties as per TSSA Quality Assurance Program assigned to “Inservice Inspectors Supervisor”, “Authorized Inspectors Supervisor”, “Repair Inspector Supervisor” and “Authorized Nuclear Inspectors Supervisor”, as applicable, at shops and field sites to ensure that the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, repairs, and alterations follow the TSSA Act, regulations, codes, and standards.
Perform Contractor Audit inspections following established Standard Operating Procedures.
Identify appropriate action and provide constructive feedback to prevent occurrence including issuance of legal orders.
Conduct on-site reviews of incidents, equipment failures and respond to public inquiries relating to potentially unsafe operating conditions;
Document and analyse patterns of non-compliance identified through inspections to resolve/reduce non-compliance to the TSS Act, regulations, and codes by carrying out investigations, assisting in the preparation of prosecution cases and providing expert witness testimony.
Mitigate public safety risks by conducting BPV Inspections, incident inspections, incident investigations and making recommendations to prevent re-occurrence.
Achieves service standards by completing the writing, preparation, and submission of accurate reports within established timeframes; and maintaining current electronic and paper records in compliance with data retention policies.
Correctly input all required information and data into TSSA systems as directed by management to ensure that TSSA’s risk model is functional, accurate and up to date.
Ensures a positive image of the company and maintains effective relationships by providing timely information to customers including interpretation and application of the regulations, codes, and standards; educating industry personnel and the public; consistently adhering to customer service standards; demonstrating TSSA’s corporate values; and adhering to and promoting ethical business practices.
Job Qualifications:

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
Holder of a valid Ontario Certificate of Competency with National Board In-service "IS Commission, National Board "AI" Commission, and National Board "R" Endorsement.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the Boilers and Pressure Vessel industry.
Valid “G” license as this position requires daily travel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required for inspections and Incident Investigations, Repairs/Alterations, OE Plant Inspections, Piping Installations, Quality Control Program Monitoring and Auditing, etc.
Thorough knowledge of the Technical Standards and Safety Act, Boilers and Pressure Vessels Regulation, Operating Engineer Regulations as required, Occupational Health & Safety Act, CSA, National Board & ASME Codes, and as required the Canadian Nuclear Safety Act. Intermediate Computer Skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, Skype, CRM) and outcome-based regulation.
Organizational Skills - priority/time management, quality assurance/accuracy, records management.
Strong teamwork approach and ability to communicate with team leaders, clients, fellow inspectors, and engineers.
Assignments vary from day to day and require strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, especially required for conducting incident investigations.
Identify and develop solutions for recurring inspection issues that conflict with TSSA’s standards, i.e., structural, maintenance.
Physical exertion required e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing ladders, scaffolding, working at heights, carrying of safety equipment, inspection tools, etc., and working in confined spaces.
