Regulatory Product Compliance & Risk Manager - EU Expansion
Job details
Job description, work day and responsibilities
Wise has already pioneered new ways for people and businesses in Europe to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the World’s first platform to offer true international multi-currency accounts.
Your mission will be to promote regulatory compliance and risk management within Wise's product teams as we expand and localize our offerings in key EU markets.
This involves ensuring that our products and their control frameworks consistently meet local regulatory standards and expectations. You will achieve this by combining your deep understanding of EU financial regulations with a strong grasp of our technical product architecture, shaping product builds from inception to launch.
Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Product Compliance and Risk team:
Act as a trusted advisor, guiding Product Teams in the design and implementation of risk-based products, processes, and controls.
Partner closely with product teams to architect practical, customer-centric product solutions that are not only innovative but also compliant with regulatory requirements.
Conduct pre-launch and ongoing legal and regulatory analyses, performing thorough risk assessments for new and existing products to identify and mitigate potential exposures.
Design and implement scalable, efficient, and customer-centric solutions to intricate regulatory requirements, ensuring our products can grow without compromising compliance.
Provide accurate, and actionable advice to Product Managers on existing and forthcoming EU regulations, identifying potential gaps, and proactively addressing risks.
Work with broader Compliance colleagues to ensure Wise Product Teams are consistently updated on the latest regulations, guidance, and industry best practices.
Represent Wise in meetings with Banking Partners and Central Banks, articulating Wise’s innovative products and compliance framework with clarity and precision.
Qualifications
You possess a strong legal background with demonstrable experience in financial regulation advisory, coupled with a deep comfort in interpreting and applying complex EU regulations.
Expertise in European AML/CTF risks and regulatory requirements, coupled with the ability to provide tangible advice to product teams on mitigation strategies.
Ability to assess and interpret intricate regulatory frameworks and effectively translate them into practical application within a product context.
Strong communication skills, enabling you to effectively convey complex regulatory concepts to Product Managers and Engineers.
A pragmatic problem-solver with the ability to leverage regulatory knowledge and data insights to drive informed business decisions.
Proven experience (or a strong interest) in thriving within a fast-growing, agile environment, with the ability to work directly and collaboratively with product teams.
Willing to travel, as Wise offices are located across different countries.
Eager and adept at quickly familiarizing yourself with new and evolving regulatory frameworks across different EU-jurisdictions.
Some extra skills that would be great:
Previous experience in establishing Branches for Payment Institutions.
Prior experience in Agency oversight across various EU markets.
Additional Information
We’re people without borders — without judgment or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.
Also, qualifications aren’t that important to us. If you’ve got great experience, and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.
And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.
