Job Title- VP- Operational Controls Manager (R0194190)

Location- Bangalore

Role Description

The role is to perform several key functions that support and control the business in complying with several regulatory requirements. This role will also have input into transformation activities (process optimisation and regulatory/control change enablement) and development of a communication construct and governance framework within global Regulatory operations. As part of the global Regulatory operations management team, the control role expected to work with other Regional leads (UK, Germany, India, JAX, APAC etc.) and likely to lead one or more projects for cross-jurisdictional improvement, plus lead the control culture change agenda. This role is also a part of leadership team in Bangalore that supports Regulatory reporting across all asset classes: Rates, Credit, Commodities, Equities and Foreign Exchange.

Your key responsibilities
• Lead and Manage a Regulatory Reporting Controls & QA CAT (Completeness, Accuracy and Timeliness) team, assessing and measuring quality and accuracy of DB's end to end operational processing, to meet and adhere to its global Regulatory Reporting requirements.
• Engage with the Operations management and stakeholders for solutioning on the gaps/process improvements/quality reviews aligned to regulatory/risk framework. This includes execution of assessment, framework, and testing cycles.
• Provide oversight to Regulatory Operations controls topics to ensure that processes are in line with all internal and external policies and regulatory requirements utilising cross process knowledge of other functional and product areas.
• Partner with regional & global internal functions and leads to both develop a control mindset/culture, create PCO capability in all locations, and implement control methodology and training to deliver sustainable process and performance improvement
• Develop and implement mitigation or control solutions and drive standardization of platforms, processes, inventories, and regulatory reporting governance. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance and audit matters
• Understand the requirements of the Bank's non-financial risk framework and track a range of framework implementation requirements.
• Manage coordination between operational stakeholders and 2nd Line Risk functions to effectively implement the Bank's non-financial risk frameworks
• Review and disseminate documentation received outlining issues identified by the Regulatory Reporting teams, data providers, or other key stakeholders.
• Coordination of cyclical and dynamic risk and control assessment (RCA) activities for global reg reporting team.
• Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to socialize issues, validate and/or acquire information required for the purposes of assigning an issue severity rating (including determining whether the issue is recurring or systemic).
• Oversee the operational functions management and progress on internal/external findings. Inclusive of support to management with finding life cycle event requests and critique standards
• Provide regional support in the regulatory framework by addressing exceptions within reporting inventory tool, follow ups for periodic signs of various forms within the inventory tool, annual attestation, etc.
• Analyze identified issues for their impact on capital and other upstream and downstream processes or systems, as well as communicating and escalating observations.
• Co-ordinate quarterly escalation of high severity issues to internal oversight committees.
• Conduct deep dive reviews into existing reporting rules and understand the root cause of regulatory breaches.
• Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the businesses products and services and ensure that those requirements are followed in the process that team runs.
• Provide an informed and independent risk perspective, including guidance and challenge to operational stakeholders on a broad variety of risk related matters inclusive of Bank Policies and Procedures.
• Act as the escalation point for any QA checks that are challenged or appealed
• Identify any compliance, conduct and operational risks, escalating appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Manage the day-to-day QA review escalations
• Prepare PMI (Performance management Index) for QA on timely basis.
• Capacity planning for the team to ensure effective coverage across all processes.
• Collaborate with onshore partners as required, facilitate discussion.

Your skills and experience
• A university Bachelor/Master's degree, preferably in Finance / Economics / Business Management
• Candidate with VP level experience, preferably in financial services in an Audit/Operational Risk and Control and/or Quality Assurance/Compliance monitoring role in a banking environment.
• Previous relevant experience in an operational risk and control function or Audit within Banking Operations with proven team leadership capability
• Experience in performing/overseeing risk assessments with a familiarity of auditing/assurance standards/concepts.
• Experience in Risk Management & Control practices within Investment Banking Operations, inclusive of knowledge of the 3 Lines of Defense operating models.
• Experience in designing and delivering quality assurance/compliance monitoring framework/plans.
• Positive, constructive approach to Quality Assurance testing with emphasis on delivering good stakeholder outcomes.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders (including Audit and Compliance) all levels across the business.
• Ability to work in global team and collaborate with people across globe
• Ability to challenge business stakeholders objectively and effectively.
• Possess excellent communication skills to facilitate accurate and efficient communication across globally distributed functional and test teams.
• Regulatory reporting or internal audit experience is strongly preferred.
• Preferably equipped with knowledge of investment bank products, trade life cycle, and trade booking models.
