The Position:
We are currently hiring for a Relief Housekeeper. This position involves flexible availability to cover shifts across several programs on an as needed basis and generally includes early morning starts at 6am.
As a member of the program team, the housekeeper performs a variety of culinary, housekeeping, and related tasks to support our children and the treatment efforts in the program. The housekeeper performs duties associated with the preparation and cooking of meals and ensures that Agency health and cleanliness standards are maintained. We’re looking for an individual who is able to build positive and collaborative relationships with the children we serve and our staff team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare program meals as needed.
Ensure food supplies for weekend meals are available. Store food properly and leave cooking instructions for follow through.
Complete food and supply orders as needed.
Shop for food supplies not provided by the campus kitchen, and other inventory as needed.
Attend to cleaning and housekeeping tasks as determined.
Sweep, mop, wax, vacuum floors as necessary; polish, clean furniture, woodwork, fixtures; wash interior windows; attend to cleanliness of cupboards, appliances, laundry, offices and bathrooms and other areas as requested or required.
Attend to the cleanliness of the children’s rooms as determined by the needs of the program.
Keep a record of all cleaning, linen and kitchen supplies and order/replenish these supplies as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
One to two years of experience in housekeeping (experience in therapeutic campus based settings or group homes preferred).
Knowledge and experience with food handling and storage practices, nutritional needs and standards, and meal preparation.
Knowledge of basic cleaning and hygiene standards.
High personal competence in the maintenance of caring and positive relationships with colleagues, children and youth.
Demonstrated interest, commitment, consistency, and a high level of personal maturity and responsibility.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A Police Information Check is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment
A Child Intervention Record Check
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and ability to drive Agency vehicles is preferred (min. 3 years driving experience with a class 5/GDL class 5 license).
Other working conditions: the role requires some physical exertion and lifting.
