Remote And Rural GP
GP Surgery on the Island of Sanday
Remote and Rural GP Position
Primary Care Opportunity in a Small Island Community
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced General Practitioner to join our small but perfectly formed team on the island of Sanday. As a part-time GP, you will have the advantage of working in one of the remote cohesive practices with more time for your patients, seeing them in the context of their lives, and working in bite-sized chunks surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife.
The surgery is part of the Orcades Practice, which consists of six single-handed island practices with GPs and nurses providing 24/7 healthcare to the smaller islands of Orkney. We work in rotation, usually for 3 weeks at a time, and are on call 24/7, with support from a community nurse.
Sanday offers a unique opportunity to provide holistic care in a remote, but supported environment. You will have the chance to develop your skills in pre-hospital emergency care, with standardised equipment and protocols provided. Our weekly videoconferences enable clinicians to share knowledge and experience, overcoming professional isolation and providing strong peer support.
This role would suit an experienced GP who values the challenges and rewards of remote rural practice. With built-in study and annual leave allocations, you will be able to acquire and maintain the skills needed to excel in this position. Accommodation is also provided.
