Job Description
Our team is looking for a motivated and organized Repair and Maintenance Assistant to join our Team. The assistant plays a crucial role in our company in ensuring that our locations run smoothly and fixing problems as they arise. This role would include working with our maintenance team and greenhouse staff, reporting back to our General Manager, and answering the alarms at night.
Responsibilities:
1. Respond to alarms or greenhouse-related emergencies
2. Building Maintenance Support
Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to ensure the well-maintained condition of all buildings, cogens, and structures. Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
3. Repair Assistance
Support the team in identifying and fixing mechanical or electrical problems. Replace faulty or worn components to restore equipment functionality.
4. Facility Maintenance
Contribute to the upkeep of facilities by fixing damaged areas, including walls, floors, and fixtures, ensuring everything remains in good condition.
5. Tools and Inventory Management
Organize maintenance tools and manage the supply inventory, ensuring essential items are always in stock and ready for use.
6. Safety and Organization
Keep workspaces clean and orderly while strictly adhering to safety protocols. Ensure all work complies with regulations, maintaining a safe environment.
7. Problem Solving
Assist in troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and other system issues, addressing malfunctions quickly to minimize downtime.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma. Technician certifications are preferred, but not mandatory.
Experience: Previous experience in maintenance, preferably in agricultural or horticultural settings.
Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, familiarity with greenhouse operations and equipment, strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks related to maintenance.
This is an evening/night shift (6pm - 3am), 5 to 6 days per week. The hours may be variable during the summer when the greenhouse lights are off.
