Reporter in Auckland
We are looking for a professionally qualified journalist and/or a person with superb interviewing and writing skills. An excellent opportunity with attractive pay and benefits exists for the right candidate with the right attributes.
The successful candidate will
Have a professional qualification in Journalism and/or have excellent writing skills
Have the ability to work with various communities and write reports without any political, religious, social and community prejudices
Valid official status to work in New Zealand
Be able to work to deadlines and cope with the pressures that attend upon journalists
Preferably a valid driving licence to drive anywhere in New Zealand
Possess a valid passport and be ready to travel overseas if needed
Reside in Auckland/Wellington with a sound knowledge of the concerned areas with good contacts
Have excellent interviewing, writing and reporting skills
Have a sound knowledge of local, national and international affairs
Be conversant with the Treaty of Waitangi and interview, report and write stories engaging with the local and regional Maori communities; engage with the Pacifica communities; and Indian, Fiji-Indian, the wider Indian Diaspora, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Nepali communities
Have the ability to engage with the younger members of the communities (in the 15 to 2+ age group) mentioned above and write on their challenges, coordinate with community organisations and community leaders and write-solution based reports
Research and write stories
Shoot and edit photographs and videos
Present stories on radio and television when required
Post all stories on to Indian Newslink websites and social media platforms
