Responsibilities
The Reptile Care position supports the daily care and maintenance of many lizard and gecko species.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Meet and exceed cleanliness standards of animals
· Lots of cleaning! And we mean it. The cleanliness and health of our animals is top priority. 70% of this position is cleaning at an industrial sink, or cleaning enclosures.
· Daily feeding and general husbandry duties
· Meet and maintain department productivity standards
· Developing a well-rounded understanding of the care needs of Rhacodactylus species, skinks, fat tail geckos and more
· you may also be required from time to time to help pick and pack reptile dry goods orders and inventory products for sales to online customers.
**This job is repetitive and autonomous. You must be comfortable working on your feet, moving up and down step stools, and lifting up to 20lbs. Climate conditions change during the seasons as per the reptiles needs. You must be comfortable working in warm temperatures and high humidity in the summer months and cooler temperatures in the winter (20c)**
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
Demonstrated capable organizational and multi-tasking skills
Strong self-management, e.g. time management skills, task initiative
Exemplary attendance and punctuality
Reliability and maturity
Ability to work independently once trained.
Knowledge of Rhacodactylus, Australian geckos and skink husbandry is an asset, but we are willing to train
