Role Research Analyst (Investment Banking division)
Reporting to Head of Research (IBD)
Location Mumbai/Bangalore
Educational qualification PGDM/CA/CFA or equivalent
Relevant work experience : 3 + years experience in:
• a] institutional equity research
• b] PMS/AIF research
• c] Strategy/Management consulting
Background industry preference: Institutional Equities/Management Consulting/Corporate Strategy/PMS research
Key Performance Areas
• Provide unique business insights to drive the IB team's research and analysis on startups across geographies and industries
• Ability to mine data (including macro, cross sector and company specific), think critically and do primary and secondary research on varied business models
• Perform deep-dive quantitative and qualitative analyses into a wide variety of industries, technologies, and companies.
• Identify and employ relevant research techniques and analytical tools to gain insights on startups (including channel checks/ market surveys/ speaking to founding team of start-ups)
• Ensure timely, high quality research, analysis and output
• Comfortable with the fast-paced nature of due diligences
• Communicate data, knowledge, and clearly explain insights and implications for the client to the IB team
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, and develop approaches to tackle diligence questions
Ideal Candidate Profile
• 3+ years of experience in an analytical role (consulting, banking, research, startup strategy etc.)
• An understanding of and interest in early-stage business models and the relevant levers (e.g. financial, product, growth/distribution, market etc.) that contribute to successful outcomes
• Entrepreneurial or high-growth startup experience a plus - we require a - self-starter- mindset- someone who's hungry to take the business from 1 to n
• Strong communication skills.
• A love for reading, learning, and dialogue
