Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will support the Lightsheet microscopy and ultra-high field MRI research activities in the Khan Computational Imaging Lab at Robarts Research Institute. The incumbent will help develop, apply and evaluate machine learning methods for image processing and analysis, and will liaise with staff and graduate students working in the lab and in the wider interdisciplinary team. The incumbent will assist in open source software development projects ongoing in the lab, and develop dashboards for performing data curation and quality control. The Research Assistant may also assist with the preparation scientific publications and dissemination of research.
Duties/responsibilities:
Develop and evaluate machine learning methods for lightsheet microscopy processing and segmentation
Help build data dashboards for data annotation and QC
Collaborate with staff and students on research publications
Qualifications
Education:
Undergraduate degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline
Experience:
1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
Experience building and training machine learning models
Proficient in software development with Python
Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve research team goals
Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
