The Department of Psychology - Admin within the Faculty of Arts invites applications for a Research Assistant position. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 7 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to Dr. Daniel McGrath, the Principal Investigator (PI) of the studies. The job involves working on multiple research initiatives, including literature searches, data collection, project coordination, and statistical analyses. The Research Assistant will be engaged in studies involving individuals with substance use disorders and disordered gambling.

This is recurring part-time position until December 31, 2026, with the potential of further renewal based on grant funding. The position will work remotely.

The Research Assistant's primary purpose is to manage the day-to-day running of multiple research projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and a postdoctoral research fellow. This requires communicating effectively and with care with participants in the studies. This position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of research experiment databases. The Research Assistant ensures the projects are managed effectively and adhere with project descriptions approved by ethics.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Recruit participants through the Prolific.
Conduct diagnostic screens/interviews of individuals using Qualtrics.
Conduct cognitive psychology experiments using Qualtrics.
Track participants that have completed the study and manage participant compensation.
Create databases and facilitate the management of the data using Excel.
Complete literature searches and reviews, proofread papers, help develop presentations using PowerPoint, and help create posters for presentations - all of this will be guided by the PI and Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
Assist in data analysis as directed by the PI and Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
Other administrative and data collection related to the laboratory projects but not outlined specifically here.
Qualifications / Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in Psychology with honours (and completed thesis).
Postgraduate degree in psychology (or related field, such as sociology, public health, or occupational therapy).
Previous experience as a research assistant in a psychology lab.
Expertise in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with statistical analysis, recruitment from various participant populations, and data analysis.
Direct experience in a psychology lab.
Expertise with Qualtrics and Zoom software.
Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple simultaneous priorities in an effective, efficient manner.
