Professor Deepa Mani :
Professor Deepa Mani is a faculty in the Information Systems area, and Research Fellow at the Indian School of Business. She was the Executive Director of the Srini Raju Centre for Technology and The Networked Economy at ISB.
Deepa’s research interests are at the intersection of technology, organization, and society.
She is interested in studying the organization of IT and IT-enabled business functions in firms, and assessment of the business value of a broad class of IT decisions and interventions.
Her research articles have been published in leading academic journals and extensively featured in refereed conference proceedings, edited book chapters, and popular media outlets.
Deepa works closely with industry to drive innovation and strategies for the digital economy. She also works closely with the central and state governments to explore the impact of technology interventions in areas such as education, healthcare and urbanization.
Deepa serves as an Associate Editor for Management Science and Information Systems Research. Deepa completed her undergraduate education from St.
Stephen’s College, Delhi University and her graduate education from Carnegie Mellon University. She received her doctorate degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Roles & Responsibilities :
You will :
Assistance to the faculty Assisting in their ongoing research work which includes the development of analytical models, solution algorithms, and designing of computational experiments.
Data compilation - Scraping data from websites or documents and compilation into usable formats for analysis.
Database management Linking different datasets, ensuring data quality, and processing raw data into processed datasets for modelling and estimation.
Synthesis - Literature search and review, summary, presentation, and analytical writing.
Quantitative modeling - Econometric analysis for exploratory data analysis and causal estimation, including visualization and reporting, along with sound knowledge in signal processing / latent models.
Conduct market and economic analysis and prepare reports to harvest data and generate presentable insights from the data.

Qualifications :
B Tech from a top-tier engineering college (preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering)
Master’s degree in economics from a top-tier institute or Other Master’s degree from a top-tier institute. Consistently high CGPA, evidence of academic excellence
Skills :
Experience working with big data systems, concepts, and tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to every detail.
Strong team player with cross-functional skills.
Background in basic econometrics is highly desired.
Strong coding proficiency in NLP, Python, Stata, R, and SQL.
Experience with noisy and / or unstructured textual data.
Knowledge of various text mining algorithms and their use cases as well as text pre-processing and normalization techniques.
Excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
Exposure to economic problems and econometric techniques desirable
Motivation to learn and a strong work ethic.
