Department Information
The Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB) was founded in 1995, opening the doors of the Petit Biotechnology Building in 1999, and since that time, it has served as a catalyst for innovative bioengineering and bioscience research (https://research.gatech.edu/bio). The Histology Core Laboratory is housed within IBB.
Job Summary
The Research Technician is responsible for supporting scientific research projects by conducting experiments, collecting data, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. This position requires a strong understanding of research methodologies and protocols, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the field.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Conduct experiments and research activities according to established protocols and methodologies to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data collected.

Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring that all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly to support ongoing research projects...
Job Duty 3 -
Collect, record, and analyze data meticulously, using appropriate software and statistical methods to contribute to the research findings.
Job Duty 4 -
Assist in the preparation of research materials, including reagents, samples, and solutions, following precise formulations and safety protocols.
Job Duty 5 -
Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation, including experiment logs, inventory lists, and safety compliance reports, to uphold regulatory standards.
Job Duty 6 -
Participate in training sessions for new laboratory personnel, providing guidance on equipment usage, safety procedures, and research protocols.
Job Duty 7 -
Monitor laboratory safety practices by conducting routine inspections and ensuring compliance with institutional safety regulations and guidelines.
Job Duty 8 -
Stay current on advancements in research techniques and technologies by engaging in professional development opportunities and attending relevant workshops or conferences.
Job Duty * -
Collaborate with principal investigators and other research team members to develop project plans and timelines, ensuring that milestones are met.
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Basic understanding of laboratory techniques related to histology, such as tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining; ability to follow written protocols; operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, troubleshooting equipment and technique failures, and providing technical services for research projects; and excellence in customer service.

SKILLS
