CPASS Foundation | STEMM Scholars Academy | Summer 2026
About the Program
The CPASS Foundation's STEMM Scholars Academy is a five-week, immersive summer experience hosted on partner college campuses — including Lewis University, The Chicago School, and the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry — designed to inspire high school students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine. Scholars engage in rigorous academics, hands-on STEMM workshops, mentorship, and career exploration, all at no cost to participants.
The Role
We're looking for dedicated, compassionate Residential Coordinators (RCs) to be live-in mentors and community builders for our Scholars. This is more than a summer job — it's a chance to make a lasting impact on the next generation of STEMM leaders. As an RC, you'll supervise and support high school Scholars seven days a week, facilitate evening and weekend programming, and help create a safe, structured, and empowering residential community.
Compensation: $4,700 (seasonal, non-benefited)
Dates: Training June 15–24 (virtual) | July 1–3 (in-person)
Summer Academy July 4 – August 8, 2026
What You'll Do
• Mentor & Supervise — Provide direct supervision of Scholars during morning routines, evening programming, and overnight hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
• Facilitate Programming — Lead engaging evening and weekend workshops, wellness sessions, study halls, and community-building activities
• Build Community — Foster an inclusive, positive residential environment where Scholars feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow
• Respond & Document — Address Scholar conduct, respond to emergencies, and complete timely incident reports and attendance logs
• Collaborate — Work closely with Lead RCs, academic staff, and operations to ensure seamless program delivery
Schedule Overview
RCs live on campus for the duration of the Academy and follow a structured rotating schedule:
Time Block Coverage
6:00 – 9:30 AM - All residential staff on duty
9:30 AM – 3:30 PM - Lead RC coverage; field trips & activities
3:30 – 11:00 PM - All residential staff on duty
Overnight (rotating): One staff member per night on call
Each staff member receives one day off per week. Overnight duty staff are not required back until the following afternoon.
Who We're Looking For
• Currently enrolled college student (rising junior or above) or recent graduate — STEMM, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields preferred
• Experience mentoring, supervising, or working with high school–age youth
• Strong communicator who builds trust and rapport with diverse youth and staff
• Calm under pressure, adaptable, and a natural problem-solver
• Committed to equity, inclusion, and empowering students from underrepresented communities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Spanish fluency and CPR/First Aid certification are a plus
Requirements
• Must be fully vaccinated (MMR, Tdap, Meningococcal, COVID-19) — no exemptions
• Must pass all required background checks and drug screening
• Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and lift up to 20 lbs.
