A Restaurant Cashier handles all financial transactions, provides excellent customer service, and contributes to a positive dining experience by greeting customers, processing payments, and answering inquiries. They are responsible for accurately using a POS system, handling cash, credit, and debit cards, and ensuring proper receipt issuance. Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:Greet customers, answer questions about the menu, and provide a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
Payment Processing:Accurately process customer orders, accept cash, credit, and debit card payments, and issue receipts.
POS System:Operate the point-of-sale system for accurate transaction recording and billing.
Cash Handling:Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring accuracy and compliance with cash handling procedures.
Customer Assistance:Help customers with inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Order Processing:Take orders accurately, whether in-person or over the phone, and notify kitchen staff of any special requests.
Inventory Management:Assist with basic inventory management and restocking as needed.
Cleanliness:Maintain a clean and organized cashier station and checkout area.
Other Duties:May assist with other tasks as needed, such as wrapping take-out orders or processing discounts and coupons.
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic math skills for accurate calculations and change making.
Customer service skills for handling customer inquiries and resolving issues.
Communication skills for effective interactions with customers and staff.
Computer literacy for operating POS systems and other computer-related tasks.
Experience in food service or retail is a plus.
High school diploma or GED certificate may be required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle cash and credit transactions efficiently.
