Jizakana is a modern Japanese dining spot in Cammeray, Sydney, serving fresh sashimi, sushi, and Japanese delicacies. About Your Role:
● Service Excellence
Oversee daily FOH operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and genuine Japanese hospitality.
Manage reservations, seating, and customer flow in a busy izakaya environment.
Handle guest concerns tactfully, ensuring satisfaction and repeat visits.
● Team Leadership & Development
Lead, train, and motivate FOH staff to deliver consistent high standards.
Provide coaching in izakaya service style, sake/cocktail knowledge, and guest engagement.
Inspire a positive team culture and act as a role model.
● Operational Management
Coordinate seamlessly with the kitchen and yakitori grill to manage orders and timing.
Supervise service shifts including setup, smooth operation, and close.
Ensure compliance with RSA, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
● Customer Experience & Events
Build rapport with regulars and locals, creating a true community-style izakaya feel.
Assist in organising sake tastings, cocktail showcases, and promotional events.
Share product knowledge — explain sake, shochu, cocktails and dishes to guests confidently.
● Inventory & Financial Oversight
Monitor beverage and FOH consumable stock levels.
Work with suppliers to source unique Japanese beverages and products.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience in managing a restaurant, preferably in Japanese or casual-fine dining.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Fluent English; Japanese language/cultural knowledge is highly valued.
Organised, reliable, and detail-focused with the ability to multitask.
Passion for hospitality, with interest in yakitori, izakaya-style dining, sake and cocktails.
Ability to inspire and develop a diverse FOH team.
