Job Description
vintage wares, handmade objects, and the kind of things people drive an hour to find. Our
Canberra space is home to dozens of independent stallholders, each with their own story and
their own corner of the floor. No two days look alike.
We’re looking for someone to join us on the floor, someone who genuinely loves people, gets
a little thrill from a beautiful old object, and knows that great service is really just great
conversation.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
Most days, you’ll be the first face a customer sees and often the one who helps them find
exactly what they didn’t know they were looking for. That means:
On the Floor
_ Greeting and welcoming every single customer through the door_
_ Opening cabinets and helping people handle items safely and confidently_
_ Being genuinely curious about what people are after and occasionally surprising them_
_ Handling enquiries in-store, by phone, and via Instagram_
Sales & the Admin Behind Them
_ Processing sales on our POS system accurately and confidently_
_ Writing sold tickets and keeping records that our stallholders can rely on_
_ Logging items in the Red Pick-Up Book (yes, it’s a real book, and it matters)_
_ Helping customers sort freight quotes and shipping when they’ve fallen for something_
large
Keeping the Place Looking Beautiful
_ Maintaining counters, display areas and customer-facing spaces with an eye for detail_
_ Restocking merchandise and keeping behind-the-counter areas running smoothly_
_ Noticing when something needs attention before anyone has to ask_
Working With Our Stallholders
_ Getting to know the stock. What’s new, what’s wonderful, what deserves a second look_
_ Liaising with stallholders about pieces worth featuring or promoting_
_ Being the kind of person stallholders trust to represent their work well_
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need a background in antiques (though it’s a lovely bonus). You do need:
_ A genuine warmth with people. You’re someone customers remember_
_ Good instincts for a sale, and the confidence to act on them_
_ Comfort with phones, a POS system, and the basics of getting things done digitally_
_ The ability to help move a sideboard when the moment calls for it_
_ Reliability, and availability that includes some weekends_
A love of vintage, antiques, or anything with a story behind it? That’ll take you a long way here.
The Details
_ Casual or Part time position_
_ Weekend work required_
_ You’ll report to our Store Manager (known, with great affection, as the Skipper)_
_ Hourly rate commensurate with experience_
