Retail Customer Experience & Support
Port Gamble General Store & Café | Port Gamble, WA
$21–$25/hour (DOE) | Full-time | In-person
Do you get a buzz from delighting customers - not just helping them, but wowing them? Do you secretly (or not-so-secretly) love straightening a display, solving a problem before it becomes one, or restocking something just right? If so, keep reading.
We’re on the hunt for someone who knows that great customer service starts before the customer even walks in the door. Someone who can sense what’s needed in the moment - whether it’s hopping behind the register, unpacking a box of new inventory, or chatting with a wide-eyed first-time visitor to our historic store.
This isn’t a job with a set list of duties. It’s more like working with the owners to deliver on: “What’s needed today to help PGGS shine?” And then doing that - cheerfully, reliably, and with pride.
What You’ll Do
Your mission is simple: help us create the best customer experience in the Pacific Northwest. That means...
Welcoming customers with warmth, personality, and genuine curiosity
Being flexible to address needs of the moment—whether that’s restocking popular items, receiving new product deliveries or straightening shelves to make shopping easier or more fun
Handling product receiving: unpacking deliveries, checking for damage, entering inventory - keeping things flowing behind the scenes
Helping with inventory counts and keeping our back-of-house as organized as our front-of-house
Helping out on the floor working the register, assisting a customer find the perfect gift, sharing your favorite fudge flavor
Keeping things tidy and inviting - because a clean, well-stocked store is part of the experience
No two days will be the same—and that’s part of the fun
You Might Be Our Kind of Person If You…
Ran (or helped run) a shop and loved it - not the spreadsheets, but the service and support
Have a minimum of 5 years of retail experience - required
Notice the little things, like crooked price tags or empty hooks
Get energized by being part of a small, do-it-all team
Love meeting new people, swapping stories, and making strangers smile
Are cool with stairs, lifting boxes (up to 30 lbs.), and keeping the backroom in check
Have experience with inventory systems (Thrive/Shopventory, Shopify, Square, or similar)
Are reliable, friendly, and always looking to make things better
