What you will be doing:
Under general direction of the Policy Program Coordinator 2, this position is responsible for receiving, researching, and preparing case documents for our complex AlaskaCare health plan member appeals. This position would also be responsible for drafting thoughtful recommendations and correspondence to our members following a decision by the Plan Administrator. This position is integral to ensuring the health appeal review, consideration, and decision process is clear, consistent, and responsive to members. This also includes serving as the main point of contact for members with inquiries related to their health appeals or the health appeal process.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Juneau at the State Office Building on the 6th floor. The hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is expected to largely work independently, but also collaborate with other team members and vendor partners via in-person, telephonic, and/or electronic means on a daily basis. A hybrid telework option may be available in the future.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience as a Retirement and Benefits Specialist 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Two years of experience as a Human Resource Consultant 1, PFD Specialist 1, Administrative Officer 1, Budget Analyst 2, Training Specialist 1, Accounting Technician 3, Accountant 2, Payroll Specialist 1, Paralegal 2, Consumer Service Specialist (Insurance), Insurance Specialist 1, or Payroll Services Supervisor with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Graduate education in public administration, business administration, finance, accounting, human resource management, employee benefits, insurance, risk management, and/or law may substitute for up to two years of the broad professional experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).
