About the role
Reporting to Executive Manager, Finance, this role is responsible for :
Managing the day-to-day operations of council revenue functions (including rates and annual charges, revenue collection and cash fund investment) to ensure compliance with legislation and maintaining integrity of our financial records.
Coordinate the annual pricing policy fees & charges with internal business units.
Delivering high-quality customer service to residents and stakeholders.
Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders on revenue matters.
Actively pursue outstanding debts and initiate debt recovery in accordance with Council’s policies liaising with Council’s agents.
Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting at degree level or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience and ability in Local Government rating levy and rates modelling and an understanding of land valuations as they apply to council rates.
Ability to manage and account for Council’s various sundry debts (accounts receivable cycle) from billings through to recovery.
Excellent written and oral communication skills for a customer focused environment, demonstrating a proven ability to deal with challenging issues in a professional, pleasant and courteous manner.
Demonstrated leadership of staff to create and maintain a cohesive team using effective communication, coaching and delegation.
Effective time management skills with a proven ability to plan and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are meet consistently at a high standard.
Proven record of identifying initiating and implementing process improvement initiatives.
