Job Description

We are seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse to join the UTHealth Greens Multispecialty Clinic in North Houston, located just outside Beltway 8.
The ideal candidate will live within a reasonable commuting distance of Beltway 8 and I‑45 North and bring a strong understanding of the local community and the resources available to support patients in this area. We are looking for a community‑minded, culturally humble RN who is patient‑ and team‑focused, education‑oriented, and committed to equitable, high‑quality care. In this role, you will serve as a key member of an interdisciplinary team, delivering comprehensive care to patients and families with both predictable and complex healthcare needs.
This position requires current Texas RN licensure, BLS certification, and preferably ACLS/PALS/NRP, along with at least three years of clinical experience and a desire for continued professional growth. Candidates skilled in OB, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Psychiatry, and Psychology support; vaccine management and VFC experience are a plus.

Position Summary:

Functions as a member of collaborative interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive care to patients and families with complex healthcare needs that may be both predictable and unpredictable. Aims to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.

Position Key Accountabilities:
• Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Adheres to broad scope of practice as established by Nurse Practice Act.
• Ensures the efficient operation of the clinic or unit by proper scheduling and planning for optimum use of staff and resources, maintenance of stock and supplies, and efficient and safe use of equipment.
• Uses systematic approach to provide nursing care to patients and families/populations by performing both focused and comprehensive assessments through subjective and evidence based objective data.
• Prioritizes, synthesizes and documents assessments and nursing plan of care using critical thinking and judgment.
• Implements plan of care within scope of practice through assignment and monitoring of other nurses and delegation and monitoring of unlicensed staff. Initiates standing orders for prescription refills and labs as well as standing delegation orders where appropriate.
• Develops and implements teaching plans for patients concerning maintenance, promotion and restoration of health.
• Evaluates patients’ response and outcomes to education and therapeutic interventions. Communicates effectively with collaborative team while escalating critical results and issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Exercises judgment while coordinating care and referring patients to agencies or health care professionals for other services/transitions in care where indicated.
• Performs on site and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation to ensure patients receive the right level of care in the right setting at the right time by the right caregiver using the right equipment and supplies.
• May be responsible for compiling daily or monthly reports.
• Acts as a patient and healthcare advocate by maintaining a safe environment and promoting quality healthcare and services.
• Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Adheres to standards of practice for professional nursing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:
• Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred

Minimum Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Associate’s degree in nursing, or diploma from an accredited nursing school.

Minimum Experience:
• 1-3 years of clinical experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

• This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.
