We are looking for a Roku developer for a contract role who has worked hands on on Roku application development with BrightScript and ScreenGraph. This is a remote position based in India.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Roku Developer to join our team on a freelance or consultant basis. As a Roku Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Roku applications and channels, ensuring their smooth functionality and optimal performance. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in Roku development and possess a deep understanding of Roku's development framework, BrightScript, and SceneGraph.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Roku application features and functionalities.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Roku applications and channels.
• Implement user interface designs, incorporating best practices for usability and user experience.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in BrightScript.
• Conduct thorough testing to identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and other technical problems.
• Optimize applications for performance, ensuring fast and responsive user experiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and backend developers, to integrate Roku applications with backend services.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Roku platform updates, SDKs, and development tools, and apply them to enhance the development process.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior Roku developers, freelancers, or consultants, if required.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.
Skills
• Proven work experience as a Roku Developer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
• Proficient in Roku's development framework, including BrightScript and SceneGraph.
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and ability to translate design wireframes into functional Roku applications.
• Experience with integrating Roku applications with backend services and APIs.
• Familiarity with streaming protocols, media playback, DRM, and content delivery networks.
• Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience working as a freelancer or consultant, managing multiple projects simultaneously, is a plus.
• A portfolio of Roku applications or channels developed previously would be highly advantageous.
