• Your key responsibilities
- Manage & report on capacity planning on all databases / database machines.
- Maintain and report/release on software patch levels across the environment.
- Adherence to Technology Security Standards, policies and escalate non-conformance.
- Maintaining ongoing, effective communication with Project Sponsors, 1st and 2nd level supporting teams and/or Developers, internal group staff, and other IT partners.
- Defining and validating operational processes and documentation, establish training requirements and identifying potential resource requirements.
- Assisting Project Sponsors and Developers with BCP/DRP planning
- 7/24 pager escalation production support
- You will drive the business goals of the Global Platforms Management Engineering and work towards achieve the same.
- You will be responsible for setting up Quality standards and assessing the output quality.
- You will determine the value of Global Platforms Management Engineering services delivered to the customer in terms of business outcomes.
• Your skills and experience
- Total experience of 10 to 15.
- Should have experience in JAVA, Strong database administration knowledge in either Sybase or UDB DB2
- Must be able to work with command line tools GUI tools.
- Intermediate to advanced perl/Shell coding development -Advanced Sybase or DB2 Optimizer Troubleshooting
- 8570 IAT level II certified
- Sybase DBA certification desired

What we’re looking for:
- Manage Run The Bank (RTB) deliveries efficiently and effectively (based on ITIL Framework)
- Manage & Troubleshoot priority incidents and ensure effective permanent solution are applied.
- Work with Build the Bank, GTIS (Infra), GTSM (Service Management) and Operations teams to identify manual tasks and automate them.
- Innovate with cutting edge Barclays approved technologies and tools to demonstrate efficiency gain by automation.
- Communicate and Collaborate and Engage with various senior Business and IT stakeholders.
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Degree in information systems or computer science or any equivalent
- Proven experience in working with and troubleshooting in structured and/or unstructured databases like Oracle, MSSQL, MongoDB
- Proven experience in scripting technologies like (one or more) Python, Shell, Java, PHP, SQL, etc.
- Proven experience in working with and troubleshooting in Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of scheduling tools like Autosys or others.
- Certified or excellent knowledge of ITIL practices.
- Good knowledge of one or more monitoring tools like ITRS Geneos, AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as the role demands to interact with key stakeholders and senior management from business and IT.
What will you be doing?
- Knowledge of IB Business - clear understanding of trade lifecycle with special focus on basic understanding of Prime Services business, Settlements, Confirmations, Recon flows.
- Familiar with Integration technologies like - Solace/MQ/Kafka.
- Knowledge of DevOps and understanding of various stages of Agile Change life cycle.
- Knowledge of Dockers/OpenShift and cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of Development frameworks like Spring Boot, Apache Camel, Angular, etc
