Job Description
The purpose of the Sales Assistant role is to support Citistores in achieving its vision of becoming Australian public’s number one choice of store by assisting in the development and implementation of product knowledge and merchandising, sales and customer service skills, workplace health and safety for customers and employees, workplace compliance and professional conduct. This role contributes directly to the company’s strategic objectives by providing efficient and courteous customer service every time, assisting online international customers with their purchases, implementing the Citiwards loyalty card for regular customers, and providing follow up support after on all purchases after the sale for customers. Sales assistants also keep track and rotate stock for any missing items, any damaged goods, expired items, and fresh products on shelves, ensuring that customers feel satisfied when they have questions and/or complaints.
Skills
Product Merchandising
Stock shelves accurately and on time according to the merchandising plan set by the Manager or Supervisor, ensuring shelves are fully replenished before each trading day.
Set up and maintain product displays as instructed, ensuring layouts meet Citistores’ visual merchandising standards and are completed within designated timeframes.
Label and price all products correctly so that 100% of displayed stock is clearly identified and compliant with pricing policies.
Monitor and rotate stock daily to maintain product quality and freshness, reporting damaged, expired, or missing items immediately to the Manager or Supervisor.
Sales and Customer Service
Answer customer questions and provide accurate information on products sold by Citistores in the relevant department
Direct customers to relevant products or aisles based on their needs if customer seeks help with locating products
When a customer asks for assistance, please ensure you help them straight away rather than sending them off to another person
Set up product displays based on instructions from manager/supervisor
Workplace Health and Safety
Follow safe manual-handling practices when standing, walking, lifting, and bending during daily tasks
Identify and report any hazards, fatigue, or incidents to the supervisor immediately
Monitor and act to keep the shop floor safe for customer and employees
Help make sure the shop is safe for customers and employees. Move boxes properly and don’t block walkways
Team Work
