Sales Associate - Landscape Materials

Sharecost Rentals & Sales is a small, locally-owned Equipment Rental & Landscape Supply company, located in central Nanaimo. We have an immediate opening for a full-time Counter Salesperson for our Landscape Sales Department, working our Tuesday to Saturday shift. There is also an opening for a part-time counter person, working 2 - 4 days per week, for our busy Spring/Summer season. We are looking for motivated individuals with a great attitude who share our commitment to providing exceptional customer service and attention to detail.

You must be a strong team player and genuinely like people. You must have a valid Class 5 licence with a clean drivers abstract and have previous experience or an interest in learning to operate a Bobcat/skidsteer. Previous retail/wholesale experience is an asset.

Job Skills & Qualifications

· minimum 1 yr. recent retail sales experience; familiarity with POS system, payment methods and handling cash

· healthy and physically capable, with knowledge of good safety practices

· a team player able to develop good customer relationships

· strong computer, mathematical and problem-solving abilities

· good written and verbal communications skills

· valid Class 5 drivers license with a clean drivers' abstract

· forklift certification would be an asset; willingness to learn is a must

· working knowledge of building and/or landscaping processes, machinery & equipment would be an asset

· the ability to multi-task, prioritize and remain effective under pressure

Job Responsibilities

- Working with customers to answer questions and help them get what they need to complete their job

· Being knowledgeable about materials we carry; determine the right product for the job; correctly calculate amounts required

· Accurately input information to create/maintain customer files

· Work alone & as a team to maintain showroom and yard inventory & appearance
