As an integral part of the sales and use tax team the major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: sales tax compliance, sales/use tax exemption validations, exemption trainings, projects related to exemptions and exemption system/process improvements. It will be important to ensure Siemens Operating Companies are compliant with exemption documentation requirements while achieving assigned objectives and targets.

Reporting to the Indirect Tax Manager of Global Business Services the mission of the department is to provide comprehensive support to all represented Siemens Operating Companies for transactional taxes including Sales and Use taxes, Property taxes, Business Licenses; 1042 compliance, and annual reports. This position is an individual contributor demonstrating leadership skills, a comprehensive knowledge and principles of sales and use taxes. This position will interface with both internal and external contacts. External contacts will include taxing authorities, vendors, and partners.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead sales tax exemption team
Sales tax exemption validations
Sales tax exemption matrices
Sales Tax exemption campaigns
Develop and provide sales tax training
Taxability troubleshooting
Maintain desktop procedures
Secondary Responsibilities:
Enter Exemption Renewal into Support Portal (ServiceNow) as needed
Assign Support Portal (ServiceNow) ticket as needed
Review/Research/Respond to Level 1 Support Portal (ServiceNow) tickets
Sales tax and other related indirect tax compliance activities
Projects
Actively contribute and participate in assigned departmental goals and objectives to meet Siemens balance scorecard for assigned targets for financial, customer, process and employee targets.
Participate in sales tax / exemption project tasks as related to mergers, acquisitions, carveouts, and system migrations.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree from an accredited university
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of tax compliance systems
Knowledge of ERP systems (i.e. SAP)
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
3-5 years of sales & use tax / exemption compliance
Ability to multi-task multiple projects and have strong attention to detail
Customer Service focus
Ability to engage in open, honest collaboration with team members
Assumes ownership and execution of individual responsibilities and deadlines
Prior experience with a global company preferred
Ability to adapt to new financial / tax systems
Vertex and/or Avalara Certified

The pay range for this position is $53,760 - $92,160 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
