Sample Processing Technician
Salary or Pay Range: $25.51 - $30.37 /hourly (Budgeted Salary Range: Budgeted Salary Range: Initial placement will be between $25.51 - $27.74/hourly , commensurate with educational background and relevant working experience)
Under direction of the section supervisor, perform specimen processing for chemical analysis of regulated substances in biological substances. Prepare various reagents and solutions. Perform sample extraction and testing methods in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain laboratory inventory of supplies, samples, and materials.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
• No minimum education required.
• Experience using laboratory equipment including centrifuges, balances, pipettes, etc. and skills to use computer controlled instruments.
• Skills to ensure accuracy of chain of custody documentation and legal defensibility of results with attention to detail.
• Organizational skills to facilitate completing office and/or laboratory tasks within the same day.
• Skills to organize and maintain records and data files.Skills to follow protocols, troubleshoot problems, and discuss potential protocol modifications.
• Problem-solving skills to address complex problems and develop creative and practical recommendations.
• Skills to work safely with various biological materials, chemicals and hazardous materials.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a high volume analytical laboratory.
• Skills to perform sample preparation techniques such as solid phase and liquid-liquid extraction, sample spiking, and matrix matching.
• Computer skills with word processing programs, spreadsheets, and graphing programs.
