OPERATIONAL BASE: Karitane Linking Families – Fairfield Heights with mid-year move to Karitane Carramar. Role will require travel to Fairfield and Bankstown LGAs.
CLASSIFICATION: Health Service Manager – Level 1 (SCHADS Level 5 equivalent)
STATUS: Part time - 28hrs per week (parental leave cover) up to 30 April 2027
VACCINATION CATEGORY: A (including annual Influenza Vaccinations)

ABOUT YOU:
You are an experienced community‑focused professional who thrives on building strong relationships and fostering meaningful partnerships. In this role, you will support and coordinate Community Hub Leaders working across primary schools in the Fairfield and Bankstown LGAs. These hubs deliver place‑based programs that empower refugee and migrant parents and carers. Your passion for working with families and diverse communities, combined with your ability to build effective partnerships, will strengthen community connections, and help create welcoming, supportive hubs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of families.
In this role:
You will have exceptional skills in connecting and engaging with children and families, and other stakeholders in a community setting.
You are passionate about building parent’s confidence and capacity to parent, and improving health and developmental outcomes for children through coaching, parent education and support.
You will be flexible and able to meet parents where they are in their parenting journey, to provide supports that best meet their need at the time.
You will be comfortable working across environments such as in an office, school spaces, in community spaces like libraries and parks, and in the family home when required.
You will embrace, and want to continue learning about the cultural, generational and socioeconomic differences that exist within our SWS community.
You will have experience in program development, coordination and implementation.
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Schools Community Hubs Coordinator will provide support functions across community hubs in
the Fairfield and Bankstown areas, working closely with Community Hub Leaders and School Principals to ensure the community hubs are reaching their potential. This role will require regular local travel in Southwest Sydney and periodic interstate travel for professional development opportunities provided by Community Hubs Australia.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: (Each criteria below must be addressed in your cover letter)
1. Qualifications and demonstrated experience in social or health services, education or community services or equivalent.
2. Understanding of community-based service systems and ability to work collaboratively with partner organisations, including education.
3. Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate for the leadership and coordination of services to support the best outcomes for families.
4. Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting families and their children including the local needs of migrants in their communities, those who are humanitarian arrivals and those from a non-English speaking background.
5. Effective written and verbal communication skills (including providing reports, data management); interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to work in an inter-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder team to facilitate access to services for children, families and the local community.
7. Capacity to work autonomously, be a self-starter and have excellent time management skills.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Temporary part time employment in accordance with The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Health Employees Agreement 2019. Shift times and days may be varied according to the needs of the organisation. Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area. The majority of Karitane’s services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.
This position may be required to provide clinical services via Telehealth in a work from home capacity.
Karitane supports a smoke free environment including grounds, buildings and vehicles.
