Job Overview:
The Lab Assistant at I Global School will support the science department by preparing, organizing, and maintaining laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for classroom experiments. The role involves ensuring safety protocols are followed, assisting teachers during lab activities, and helping students conduct experiments under supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Laboratory Preparation:
• Set up and organize lab equipment and materials as per the experiment requirements.
• Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and biological specimens for experiments.
• Assist teachers in demonstrating laboratory techniques and safety procedures to students.
• Maintenance:
• Clean and maintain laboratory instruments, equipment, and glassware after use.
• Ensure chemicals and other materials are stored safely and appropriately.
• Regularly check and maintain inventory of lab supplies, reporting shortages to the faculty.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure that all safety procedures are strictly adhered to during lab sessions.
• Maintain proper labeling and handling of chemicals, biological specimens, and equipment.
• Assist in the implementation of safety drills and emergency protocols related to the lab.
• Student Support:
• Assist students during experiments, ensuring they follow safety and procedural instructions.
• Provide technical guidance on the use of lab instruments and troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Offer support in recording observations and results accurately.
• Administrative Tasks:
• Maintain accurate records of lab experiments, equipment usage, and inventories.
• Support the science department in organizing field trips or external lab-related events.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Educational Requirements:
• A diploma or degree in science-related fields (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Physics).
• Lab technician or assistant certification is a plus.
• Skills:
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Familiarity with handling chemicals, laboratory instruments, and safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
• Experience:
• Prior experience in a school lab or similar setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of IT systems used in labs (if applicable to IGS’s requirements) is beneficial
