Job Title: Science Laboratory Technician
The Science Laboratory Technician will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of professionalism in the science laboratory. This includes:
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling and preparing apparatus, equipment, and materials as requested by Science Teachers.
Collecting and disposing of waste, and washing-up apparatus.
Inspecting equipment for faults and reporting to the Science Teacher or Head of Faculty.
Technological and Resource Management:
The Science Laboratory Technician will be responsible for:
Operating an online system for monitoring chemical storage.
Monitoring breakages and maintaining inventory levels.
Assisting with updating records of inventory levels and locations of backup equipment.
Safety and Risk Assessing:
The Science Laboratory Technician will ensure:
CLEAPSS Hazcards reference for all chemicals.
Written risk assessments are in place for all equipment and materials.
Compliance with Health and Safety standards and regulations.
Technical Support:
The Science Laboratory Technician will assist teachers with:
Facilitating student learning.
Advising staff on resources and equipment available.
Professional Responsibilities:
The Science Laboratory Technician will:
Support the life of the school beyond the classroom.
Lead after co-curricular activities.
Participate in residential weeks and other trips.
Position Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with students and staff in a secondary school setting.
Up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends, technologies, and techniques in their specific skill base.
Ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently.
