Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) with strong ETL testing, SQL, and Python development expertise. This role requires a hands-on professional who can actively contribute as both a Developer and an SDET , going beyond test execution to build automation and validation frameworks from scratch.
The candidate will play a critical role in building and validating a new AWS-based Lakehouse architecture , transitioning from ODS → Delta Lake → Apache Iceberg . This is a fast-paced, high-impact role requiring deep technical expertise, ownership, and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to both development and testing activities across data platforms.
• Design, develop, and validate ETL / data pipelines for an AWS-based Lakehouse environment.
• Perform complex data validation , reconciliation, metadata checks, and transformation testing.
• Write automation frameworks and scripts in Python from scratch (not limited to debugging or enhancements).
• Develop and execute complex SQL queries to validate large-scale datasets.
• Collaborate with onsite and offshore teams to ensure timely delivery of critical initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to offshore SDET teams, including guidance and extended support coordination.
• Work independently with strong ownership, driving tasks to completion in a high-pressure environment.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience as an SDET / Data QA / ETL Testing Engineer .
• Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and PySpark .
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EMR, Glue, and S3 .
• Solid understanding of Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg architectures.
• Experience with ETL testing , data quality validation, and pipeline testing.
• Exposure to Kafka or streaming platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deeply analyze data, not just execute queries.
• Prior experience leading or mentoring offshore teams is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across global teams.
