Our busy Birkenhead, North Shore, Auckland supermarket is seeking a customer driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic person who has good, sound experience in the supermarket seafood retail industry to lead our Seafood team.
As the Seafood Manager for New World Birkenhead, you will be responsible to manage, plan and organise the running of our store’s Seafood department. The Seafood Manager will need to ensure all tasks are efficiently and accurately completed in a timely and professional manner.
We require someone who has good knowledge and experience of SAP in the supermarket industry and has at least three years of proven experience organising and supervising a team.
The service that we provide to our customers must be second-to-none, therefore we seek someone who can communicate effectively with our customers to ensure their needs are met and that they receive high quality products every time.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Ensure overall operational excellence is achieved for the Seafood department
Manage, motivate, train and support the Seafood team ensuring that best practice policies and operational procedures are met.
Organising rostering for the Seafood department and managing staff leave.
Ordering for the Seafood department through effective use of the in-store purchasing systems. Ensure range matches the format and customer service requirements whilst optimising stock holding levels and stock turn
Liaise with suppliers as appropriate and ensure that all stock is sourced through approved suppliers, all orders placed on time and all product checked on arrival for quality and receipted in as per store process
Ensure appropriate stock control / stock taking processes and procedures are in place
Cleaning of all serve overs, storage areas and Seafood equipment
Completing weekly stock-takes
Ensuring sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded and that wage costs are controlled appropriately
Help to ensure the shop is full fresh and appealing throughout the hours of trade, all food safety practices are adhered to and that stock levels are controlled appropriately
Handle Customer enquiries and complaints appropriately and always ensure effective interactions with customers
Assisting in other areas of the store as required (including Butchery and Service Deli)
THE SUCCESFUL APPLICANT MUST
Have previous supermarket seafood retail experience (one-year minimum experience)
SAP experience and good working knowledge of SAP (one-year minimum experience)
Experience Supervising and organising a team (minimum of three years experience)
Proven experience ordering through Procure Fresh Ordering system.
Be able to communicate effectively with customers and staff
Have a good command of written and spoken English
Be able to work in a fast-paced team environment
Have fantastic customer service experience
Have excellent computer skills
Be flexible and driven with strong work ethic and a fantastic attitude
Have the ability to prioritise and multitask consistently to meet strict deadlines for order completion
Be physically fit and able to fulfil all the requirements of the role (this role does require some heavy lifting)
Wiling to assist in our Butchery and Service Deli departments
Be willing to work over our busy Christmas/New Year period and public holidays
Be able to start December 2024
This role is a full-time, permanent role (31.5hrs/week); Monday 6am to +am, Tuesday 12pm to 10pm, Friday 6am to 4pm and Saturday 6am to 4pm. However, we require someone who is able to be flexible due to the nature of supermarket retail.
$2+.70 hourly wage for the right candidate who meets all the above-mentioned criteria.
