Salary: $122,570 - $127,720
The Cardiac Physiology Service comprises a dedicated multidisciplinary team of Cardiac Physiologists, Technicians, physicians, administrative, and support staff who work closely together to deliver high-quality, efficient, and patient-centred care for inpatients and outpatients, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and positive outcomes.
The Section Head of Pacing and Electrophysiology is a senior clinical and operational leader who maintains advanced practitioner skills in pacing and electrophysiology, performing complex procedures to the highest standard while prioritising patient needs. They oversee daily team operations, including roster management, equipment maintenance and procurement, market share monitoring and growth, handling of device advisories and compliance, and facilitation of regular clinical and operational meetings.
A key aspect of this role is maintaining a focus on patient care while upholding professional standards. Continuous education and training are essential to acquire and sustain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the required competency standards.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Cardiology Service is a Secondary and Tertiary service provided for Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley (CC & HV) and those of the central region of New Zealand.
Cardiology at CC & HV includes:
Outpatient Clinics
Cardiac Diagnostic Testing
The Heart and Lung Unit
Cardiac Interventional Suite, providing the following procedures:
Coronary Angiograms
Left & right heart studies
Coronary intervention and CTO
Balloon Valvuloplasty and TAVI
PFO/ASD/LAA Closure
Pacemaker, ICD, CRT, Micra and Sub-Q/ EV ICD implants
Electrophysiology Studies, 3D mapping and Ablation
Cardiac Physiology Service includes:
Pacing/ICD follow-up service, including remote monitoring, travelling clinics and on call service
Cath Lab, Implants, TAVI and Electrophysiology
Echocardiography
Exercise Tolerance Testing
Ambulatory monitoring- Holters, Events & BP
Training of Provisional Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiac Physiology Technicians and other Health Care staff
The CC & HV Cardiology Service is accredited as an SCT training facility.
About you

Knowledge, skills & Experience:
At least 5 years post graduate experience as a cardiac Physiologist
Practice and further training has been completed, demonstrating a high level of clinical competence in a specialty area (Electrophysiology and/or Cardiac Devices).
Ability to teach, lead & and mentor developing staff in area of speciality
Experience in Leadership
Proficiency in use of computer/ teaching technologies e.g. Word, Power Point, Xcel, teaching equipment e.g. data shows, projectors
Essential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations:
Current Annual Practising Certificate
SCT Membership
BSc
Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Technology or equivalent
International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certificate and/or The Cardiac Electrophysiology Institute of Australasia (CEPIA) Graduate Diploma
