Location: Parramatta, NSW (Hybrid – 2 days/week in office)
Reporting To: Cyber Security Operations Manager
Contract length: 6 months with immediate start.
About the Role:
We’re seeking a skilled and proactive Security Engineer (Level 2/3) to take ownership of our Microsoft Purview DLP environment. This is a hands-on role focused on managing and enhancing data loss prevention (DLP) policies, ensuring our data protection strategy remains effective and aligned with business needs.
The initial configuration of Microsoft Purview is complete, and we’re looking for someone to lead its ongoing operational management and continuous improvement. You’ll also support our cloud security posture through the administration of a CASB platform (Skyhigh Security or similar).
Key Responsibilities:
Microsoft Purview DLP Management
Own day-to-day operations of the DLP environment.
Tune and update DLP rules and policies.
Respond to DLP alerts and incidents.
Collaborate with stakeholders to refine data protection requirements.
CASB Platform Support
Monitor cloud security alerts and events.
Assist with policy updates and fine-tuning.
Work with IT and security teams to ensure effective cloud data protection.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Maintain runbooks and documentation.
Provide knowledge transfer to team members.
Continuous Improvement
Stay current with best practices in Microsoft Purview and CASB technologies.
Recommend and implement enhancements to improve security posture.
Compliance & Reporting
Support audits and compliance checks.
Assist with reporting requirements as needed.
Skills & Experience Required:
4+ years in a security engineering or operations role.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview DLP (or Microsoft 365 DLP), including policy management and incident response.
Experience with CASB platforms such as Skyhigh, Netskope, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, or Prisma.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Defender.
Strong understanding of cloud security concepts across SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments.
Ability to analyze security alerts and fine-tune policies for accuracy.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, Essential Eight, CPS 234) is a plus.
