Job description, work day and responsibilities
We have 5 part-time temporary are available from Jun 1st to August 1, 2025. We will provide training leading up to the Calgary Stampede, the busiest 10 days for our casino, located on Stampede Park.
The successful candidate will provide security and protection services to Calgary’s fun, action-packed entertainment venue, responsible for the safety of patrons, staff, assets and gaming activities in our +6,000 square foot casino, which includes Centre Bar, Cowboys Night Club, Melrose Café and Bar, Hitman's Bar, Second Son restaurant, and underground parking areas. Working at Cowboys Casino you will gain valuable crime prevention knowledge and experience in a unique and exciting environment that will further prepare you for a career in law enforcement.
Security are required to enforce age/access provisions within the casino, conduct patrols, perform customer assistance, respond to emergencies and medical calls, enforce the Trespass to Premises Act and Criminal Code, and liaise with Calgary Police, Fire and EMS. In house and external training opportunities in security law, note taking, Pressure Point Control Tactics and Handcuffing, and First Aid/CPR are available.
This position requires individuals to work either night shifts ranging from a minimum of 6 hours per week up to 10-12 hours on a compressed work schedule of 4 days on and 3-4 days off.
Candidates must be diligent, observant, and reliable, must be physically capable of job tasks and must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing. Good report writing skills are essential. A police clearance will be required along with successful registration as security guards though the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent required. Extra consideration will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in law enforcement, security, or police studies, current First Aid or PPCT certification, previous security experience, or equivalent experience in a customer service environment. Demonstrated ability to use computer hardware and software will be an asset.
