As a Security Guard - University Patrol in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education and more .
As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in helping to maintain a secure environment at an educational location. Your responsibilities will include conducting routine patrols throughout the assigned areas, remaining highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and providing outstanding customer service to students, staff, and visitors. You will be a reliable presence, responding to situations with professionalism and clear communication. What You’ll Do
• Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
• Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
• Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
• Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
• Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise
Responsibilities
• Provide customer service to clients, students, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the campus buildings and surrounding perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and report any unusual conditions or activities, documenting incidents as required by site protocols.
• Assist with access control by monitoring entrances and exits, verifying identification as needed, and helping to maintain order within the location.
• Support campus events and activities by providing a visible security-related presence and assisting with crowd management when necessary.
• Communicate clearly and promptly with Allied Universal management, campus personnel, and local authorities as required.

• A desire to gain broad experience and grow within the company
• Interest in transitioning into full-time roles when available
Minimum Requirements
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
