DPS Security Services is responsible for the security function for Parliament of Victoria, inclusive of the Parliamentary precincts and electorate offices across Victoria.
About the role
Our Security team is seeking an adaptable Security Officer to provide exceptional guarding services at the iconic Victorian Parliament House. Reporting to the Security Coordinator, you will join a skilled team of security professionals, with key responsibilities including:
Performing security screening, inspection, identification and reporting to ensure the safe and smooth operation of all security checkpoints at Parliament House.
Providing a warm welcome and outstanding customer service to all staff, visitors, and guests.
You will be provided you with training to develop your individual skills and assist you in building a successful Security career.
Typically, you will work a 7 hour and 36-minute shift between the hours of 6:30am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. The nature of this role may also require you to work a 7 hour and 36-minute shift between the hours of 6:30am and 8:30pm/10:00pm.
About you
We are looking for people who take pride in delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will build great relationships with customers while following policies and procedures. You will have prior security experience and working knowledge of security systems and screening equipment.
You will have the skills to:
Assist staff, visitors, and guests to make sure they have a positive experience.
Communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people.
Work well in a team, as well as independently.
Be punctual and organised to keep things running smoothly.
Learn, adapt and be flexible to changes in the workplace.
Qualifications:
Private Security Individual Licence and Certificate II in Security Operations required.
The current Victorian Crowd Control License and Certificate III in Security Operations are highly regarded.
Security Officers require a level of health and fitness to be effective in their role.

The process from here
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to undertake a series of assessments to get a deeper understanding of candidate's security experience.
Successful candidates will then be invited to an interview conducted by a selection panel. This interview may take place in our offices located in the Melbourne CBD or online.
The preferred candidate will be requested to undertake pre-employment medical tests.
