Job Title: Careers Adviser (SEND & Behavioural Needs Specialist)
Location: West Lancashire
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time only
Contract Type: Self-employed; contracted.
Salary: £100-£130 per day (depending on qualifications and experience)
Start Date: 1st September 2025

As we continue to grow, we are looking to recruit a Qualified Careers Adviser or a Trainee Careers Adviser working towards a Level 4 or Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance, to join our expanding team and support our mission.
About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated individual with experience of working with students with SEND and/or behavioural needs, particularly in special schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) or alternative provision.
You will work in a range of education settings across West Lancashire, delivering tailored information, advice and guidance to support young people in their personal, academic and career development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and group careers guidance using a variety of delivery methods (face-to-face, telephone, virtual, etc.)
Deliver presentations and workshops to small and large student groups (training and support provided)
Plan and deliver targeted support for young people with additional needs, including those with EHCPs
Work collaboratively with schools, SENCOs, support staff, and external agencies
Attend parent/carer events and support whole-school careers activities
Maintain accurate client records using designated information systems
Promote the values and services of Career North to schools, students and stakeholders
Participate in continuous professional development and regular supervision sessions
Comply with safeguarding, health & safety, and equality & diversity policies
Person Specification
Essential:
A genuine passion for working with young people and helping them succeed
Experience supporting young people with SEND and/or behavioural needs in an educational or advisory setting
Minimum qualifications: A Level or BTEC Level 3, plus GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel across Sefton and Lancashire
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexibly and independently
Desirable:
Level 4 or 6 Qualification in Careers Guidance (or working towards)
Previous experience in a Careers Adviser role
Knowledge of special school or PRU environments
