Job description, work day and responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounts team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide range of accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on indirect taxation (GST compliance), MIS reporting, client invoicing, and receivables/payables management. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
Key Responsibilities
Taxation & Compliance
• Timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-+, etc.)
• Reconciliation of GST returns with books of accounts and vendor/client statements
• Ensure all documentation is maintained for tax audits and statutory assessments
• Ensure compliance with all applicable indirect tax laws and regulations
Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Preparation and maintenance of comprehensive MIS reports for senior management
• Conduct financial analysis to generate business insights and support strategic decisions
• Preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements, reconciliations, and audit schedules.
Accounts Receivable & Payable Management
• Handle invoice generation and submission to clients as per billing cycles
• Track and manage the receipt of payments from clients, and send timely follow-ups
• Expedite collections to ensure timely cash flow and reduce outstanding receivables
• Maintain and update a daily list of debtors and creditors, ensuring real-time accuracy
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and address client/vendor queries professionally.
General Accounting Operations
• Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks including journal entries, ledger scrutiny, and bank reconciliations
• Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and relevant statutory authorities
• Ensure accurate data entry and reporting through Tally and ERP systems.
Candidate Requirements
Educational Qualification
• Semi-Qualified CA or
• B.Com (in regular mode) from a recognized university (mandatory)
Experience
• Minimum 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and taxation
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Oil & Gas industry
Technical Skills
• Proficient in ERP systems and Tally Bonus)
• Advanced Excel skills – including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data consolidation, and analysis tools
Soft Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
