McNeese State University invites applicants for the position of Senior Accountant in the Office of Administrative Accounting. This is a full-time, 12–month, unclassified position. The appointment start date is available immediately.

SALARY: $55,000 to $65,000 annual salary

REPORTING AUTHORITY: Chief Accounting Officer

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of Facility Usage and Events including event setup, billing and collections through the WebTMA software.

Collaborate with event and venue coordinators to confirm services and support for collection of funds and facility usage

Assist in the implementation of the Nelnet Storefront software

Serve as the Nelnet Storefront manager and administrative contact for campus events that require collections (i.e. registration fees, sales, membership fees, etc.)

Serve as the primary point of contact for lease-related accounting and reporting

Identify and evaluate all contracts for leases, SBITAs, and P3s in accordance with GASB 87, 94, & 96 requirements

Enter, maintain, and monitor lease agreements in LeaseController software for capitalization and amortization

Prepare accurate lease schedules and support reporting for year end processes and audit compliance

Locate and correct journalizing and posting errors

Prepare invoices and journal entries for end of year receivables

Assist in developing and writing policies and procedures for Administrative Accounting

Interact with internal and external auditors

Prepare monthly utility bill recaps

Any other duties as assigned by the Chief Accounting Officer and/or Vice-President for Business Affairs

Required/Preferred Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (Accounting or Finance related)

Three years of experience in Accounting or Financially related field

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Excel pivot tables, Word, Outlook)

Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills

Analytical aptitude required to analyze data

Extensive computer knowledge and technical skills with an emphasis in accounting and data management

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Knowledge of Governmental Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards

Preferred:

Knowledge of Banner platform

Masters Degree from a regionally accredited institution
