Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. This position will also be involved in budget planning, forecasting, and internal audit functions.

Job Responsibilities (include the following, but not limited to):

Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

General Ledger Management:
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
• Reconcile account balances and bank statements.
• Oversee the posting of journal entries and adjustments.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actuals and budgeted figures, providing explanations and recommendations.

Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Oversee the management of accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Ensure timely invoicing and payment processing.

Tax Compliance:
• Coordinate and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Handle any tax-related inquiries or issues.

Financial Analysis:
• Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as required.

Team Leadership:
• Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff.
• Provide training and development opportunities to accounting team members.

Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance department.
• Implement best practices and new procedures as needed.

Special Projects:
• Participate in or lead special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

Additional duties as assigned by your supervisor / manager within the scope of the company.

Qualifications / Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
• Experience in public accounting or a corporate accounting department is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Experience with Sage 100 and / or QuickBooks is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

Compensation:
• This is a full-time, salary position with the pay range of $75,000 - $85,000 per year which depends on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education, training, licenses/certifications, etc.
