As a Senior Advisor, Corporate Finance you will be a key member of the Corporate Planning and Financial Services team. Working with a team of Senior Advisors and Advisors, the incumbent will provide strategic and technical advice to The City on all aspects of corporate financing solutions. Primary duties include:

Principal corporate liaison that triages all borrowing, loan and loan guarantee bylaw requests for The City.
Lead a team of multi-disciplinary individuals, including senior leaders (e.g., CFOs, legal and subject matter experts from The City, its subsidiaries, and Civic Partners to establish the terms in the bylaws.
Conduct reviews of the bylaws in accordance with legislation, municipal financial policy and risk tolerances.
Oversee the legislative process for approval of the bylaw, including multiple public readings of Council and advertising.
Manage existing borrowing, loan and loan guarantee bylaws for The City, its subsidiaries and Civic Partners. Conduct annual reviews of outstanding bylaws with Council and relinquish excess capacity.
Negotiate with senior leadership (e.g., CFOs), legal and subject matter experts from the subsidiaries of The City, and Civic Partners the terms and conditions required for these entities to receive loans or loan guarantees from The City.
Monitor the credit profile of subsidiaries of The City and Civic Partners and determined whether to amend the terms and conditions of the loan and loan guarantee documentation.
Evaluate and recommend changes to the risk tolerances at The City for the loans and loan guarantees program. Update policies, standards and procedures that reflect these risk tolerances, in particular the Credit Documentation Policy and Procedures.
Complete annual bylaw relinquishments and credit documentation updates to finance leadership.
Qualifications
A degree with a professional designation and at least 5 years of related experience OR;
A Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a professional designation and at least 3 years of related experience.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel is required.
Corporate and project finance experience, alternative project financing structures, and traditional debt financing for capital projects.
Practical experience with the development and execution of procurement documents, legislative compliance, including project agreements and other contractual agreements, and legal review processes.
Excellent communication and organization skills, strong political acumen, and demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis.

Workstyle
This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 14 $53.52 - 71.53 per hour

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week

Days of Work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
