Tenei turanga - About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Advisor (Level 1) - Power BI (PBI) to support the effective operation and use of Power BI across the organisation as part of the Data Strategy and Knowledge function.
This role contributes to the day to day administration and support of the Power BI platform, working within established standards, governance frameworks, and operational processes. It is suited to someone with experience in BI or data platform support who is ready to apply their skills in a public sector environment and continue to develop their capability.
You will provide technical and operational support for Power BI users, including access management, workspace administration, and routine platform issues. You will work alongside senior colleagues to support reliable platform operation, promote consistent and well governed use of Power BI, and assist users across the organisation.
The role operates within defined policies and procedures and contributes to continuous improvement of platform support and guidance.
Core activities and tasks
Provide Level 1-2 support to Power BI users, including access, permissions, sharing, and common issues.
Support the administration of Power BI workspaces and environments in line with agreed standards and governance.
Monitor data refreshes and routine operational issues, escalating where required.
Contribute to maintaining platform documentation, guidance, and support materials.

Skills and Experience Required
Experience in data, BI, or analytics platform support or administration, with a focus on Power BI.
Understanding of access management, workspace management, and operational support in a governed environment.
Ability to work to established processes, identify issues, and escalate appropriately.
Clear communication skills and a service focused approach to supporting users.
You must be a New Zealand Citizen or Resident.
