Hybrid Working

Introduction:
The Senior Analyst – Data Scientist position is responsible for building new Data Science capabilities by operationalizing Big Data platform, monetizing new data assets, and leveraging Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics methodologies.
The Data Scientist role provides project specific leadership in building selection & targeting solutions that integrate effectively into existing systems and processes while delivering strong and consistent performance. Working with Customer Management, Marketing, Partnership and broader US Consumer Bank Leadership, the Data Scientist role provides expertise in project design, predictive model development, validation, monitoring, tracking, implementation and/or specification.
This role will work closely with the technical disciplines of IVU, Model Monitoring to ensure that the latest methodologies and constraints are incorporated and to provide efficient documentation around the process to ensure smooth Auditability and Controls.
The development and implementation of coherent and improved models is fundamental to the firm’s ability to manage its financial risk. The role will require the candidate to understand the underlying regulatory requirements and the primary drivers of the bank as well as helping the strategies.
What will you be doing?
• Manage data science projects from concept to deployment for delivering substantial business value through application of new-age AI-driven methodologies
• Develop new statistical models and Machine Learning algorithms that drive Marketing, Customer Experience, Credit Risk and Offer Optimization programs.
• Participate in overall project design, provide technical direction on key Data Science infrastructure decisions involving analytical toolkit, Big Data platform and cloud computing and delivery with other functional teams
• Produce robust documentation to ensure replicability of results and fulfil Barclays governance requirements
• Work constructively with other Barclays resources to deliver projects
• Ensure project completion within agreed time frames and end-client satisfaction
• Be a subject-matter-expert in traditional statistical methods (Logistic/Linear Regression, Decision Trees) as well as new Machine Learning algorithms (k-Means, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting etc.) using programming languages such as Python, R and Scala.
• Drive applied research initiatives in deep learning, natural language processing, recommender systems, next-best-action systems, speech analytics, and computer vision
What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline
• A good knowledge of data analysis, theory and statistical techniques (such as linear or nonlinear models, logistic regression, macroeconomic forecast, decision trees, cluster analysis and neural networks etc.)
• An ability to produce reports and interrogate systems to produce analysis and resolve discrepancies/queries
• Strong analytical work experience in a financial services company
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• 2+ years of professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics
• Expert in Python or R; proficient in SQL, SAS, Spark, Scala
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline
• Exceptional business acumen and written/verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, technical and/or statistical skills with proven ability to process large datasets into meaningful information
• Strong communication skills & ability to work independently
• Project management skills. Manage project tracker deliverables end-to-end and ensure management and stakeholders are up to speed with progress, obstacles and risks.
• Ability to support peers on technical aspects of projects and offer subject matter expertise to colleagues and teams across different QA teams.
• Stakeholder/Model Owner management. Ensure alignment of projects with business objectives of stakeholders/Model Owners.
• Ability to follow Model Governance Procedures and strong alignment to Model Risk Policy and Milestone framework.
• Understanding of the US regulatory and Financial accounting requirements.
