Job Description
We build Rakuten LINK, a mobile communication app deeply integrated with Rakuten Mobile mobile network services and the Rakuten Group ecosystem. We are looking for a new team member who shares a passion for making high-quality native Android applications.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with product managers, engineering teams, other architects, and managers to deliver high-quality, end-to-end architecture.
• Translate technical concepts into plain, non-technical language to explain the impact on the product.
• Conversely, translate high-level product requirements into technical solutions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline.
• 7 years of experience building Android applications/libraries as an engineer, tech lead, or architect.
• System design, some high-level back-end experience, Experience leading teams of 5 to 7 people.
• Experience in design and integration patterns (MVVM, MVC, ).
• Strong passion for code quality, and not allergic to unit tests.
• Able and willing to do hands-on coding and code reviews.
• Deep understanding of application-level standards (some, not all of them), e. g. HTTP, OpenID Connect, GRPC, mobile push notifications, JWT, CBOR, public-key cryptography, etc.
• Experience leading technical teams to deliver solutions (no people management necessary).
• Comfortable working across several teams in different geographies.
• Be open to receiving constructive feedback.
• Master's or Ph. D. degree in computer science or related technical discipline.
• Understanding of web services and different integration styles.
• Experience developing software libraries.
• Experience maintaining open-source software.
• Experience with mobile DevOp.
