API Engineering Professional
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled API engineer to develop and maintain our enterprise AI platform. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing APIs using IBM Connect, DataPower gateways or equivalent platforms, and defining governance policies for authentication, rate limiting, and quotas.
• Develop and implement APIs with scalability, security, and robustness in mind
• Define and enforce governance policies: authentication/authorization (OAuth2, API-key, JWT), rate limits, quotas, versioning, and lifecycle management
• Manage the API gateway: routing, transformation, orchestration, protocol mediation (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), and traffic control
• Configure and maintain the developer portal: publishing APIs, onboarding consumers, documentation, self-service subscription
• Monitor API usage, performance, latency, error metrics; analyze usage patterns and production issues
• Ensure API security and resilience through secure back-end integrations, payload validation, threat mitigation, and high-availability
• Stay up-to-date with emerging protocols (GraphQL, WebSockets) and evolving tool capabilities
