Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 8+0,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

With our expanded pipeline system now in place, Trans Mountain provides enhanced direct access for Canadian crude oil to world markets. As the Senior Application Development Analyst with Trans Mountain, you will have the opportunity to work with an innovative and creative group of industry experts supporting the operation of the Trans Mountain Pipeline System. This position is based in our Calgary Head Office and reports to the Enterprise Application Support Lead.

The Senior Application Development Analyst responsibility is to improve the capability, effectiveness and efficiency of business processes through the provision of information systems that provide automated functionality and process engineering to allow for the adoption and streamlining of information systems and business processes. To ensure success of IT projects by eliciting requirements, providing subject matter expertise, advising on integrations with other operational areas and contributing to documentation, process engineering and implementation tasks. To ensure information systems continue to function and add value through project hand-off, knowledge transfers and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
Provides support for the continuing operations of applications systems, including troubleshooting and resolving of system issues, and managing the impact of infrastructure and system-related upgrades; Utilizes and advances IT tools and processes regarding Incident management, Request management, Change management and Knowledge management (Service Now).
Works collaboratively with the business to understand requirements and determine, develop, implement and enhance technical solutions to meet business requirements. Solutions may be in-house developed, purchased packages or cloud-based systems; Ensure a smooth transition to operations for new systems.
Bridge/liaise between IT, the business areas, and the vendor for the operational support of SaaS systems; develop a strong understanding of the business across a wide and diverse range of business domains.
Understands and uses corporate standards, processes and procedures; Participates in the development of best practices, governance, and procedures related to the Trans Mountain IT environment; Understands the company technology infrastructure and works within that infrastructure when deploying information systems.
Clearly documents system solutions, system architecture and business processes.
Advise, lead, contribute and collaborate on project development and rollout activities including requirements gathering and process documentation, data migration and system development/configuration, offer subject matter expertise and insight, assist in training/OCM activities and support handover.
Identify risk areas amongst the business and develop strategies and/or solutions to mitigate.

Qualifications and Professional Experience
University Degree in Computer Science, related Engineering field or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of work experience in Application Development & Support.
Knowledge and experience with application systems analysis, architecture, design, and development.
Knowledge and experience with operational support of application systems using development and maintenance best practices.
Web server and web application development and support (IIS, ASP, ASP.NET), .NET Programming (Visual Studio and C#).
Knowledge of relational databases and SQL (SQL Server) for the purposes of data analysis and application development.
Knowledge and experience with Windows based systems, servers and environments utilizing Windows, n tier, and web.
Experience with implementing and upgrading vendor applications, including cloud systems.
Business analysis experience – understanding the business domain, drawing out requirements, communicating, managing expectations and documentation:
SaaS Vendor management in managing vendor SLAs, upgrades and incident resolution.
Knowledge of pipeline business fundamentals across core operational areas.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with business contacts for applications supported.
Experience in vendor management.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with others across all levels of the organization.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner in a high-paced, agile and multi-task environment.

Other Requirements and Information
May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.
Up to 5% travel to various site locations may be required.
