Your Role
As a Senior Audio/Visual Designer in our Venue sector, you will be at the forefront of designing advanced building systems, preparing critical design documents, and performing engineering calculations in collaboration with project teams. You will face complex engineering challenges, provide mentorship to junior staff, and participate in business development and risk management activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation of intricate design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Lead design projects from concept through to completion.
• Review shop drawings for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Conduct research and provide recommendations on systems or equipment feasibility.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate products based on application.
• Generate solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges in a direct or advisory capacity.
• Ensure delivery of drawings, specifications, and analyses align with scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
• Mentor and guide less experienced designers and engineers across teams, taking responsibility for their success.
• Suggest project staffing and oversee project technical and administrative activities.
• Commit to personal and team development by continuously seeking knowledge and sharing insights.
• Assist in establishing and implementing sector goals, policies, and standards.
• Influence the development of tools and resources, promoting adherence to design and engineering standards.
• Oversee project quality through a comprehensive review process and regular check-ins.
• Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners and clients to expand business opportunities.
• Participate in client and industry events to strengthen professional networks.
• Foster a client-centric approach within your projects and across teams.
• Communicate effectively with clients throughout the project cycle, addressing questions and requirements proactively.
• Conduct job site visits to confirm existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
• Resolve conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors as needed.
• Identify industry gaps and proactively enhance your knowledge and that of your peers.
• Stay updated on relevant technologies and industry trends, as well as evolving codes and standards.
• Share insights and suggestions for technical improvements with colleagues and leadership.
• Understand and apply Henderson's design guidelines, policies, and procedures in all work.
• Collaborate with project managers on various project management tasks and offer support as necessary.
• Delegate and oversee coordination activities including managing communications, scheduling, and client interactions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) preferred, with a minimum of 12 years relevant experience and a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications (BEMP, CPD, NICET, RCDD, etc.) aligned with the technical field are necessary.
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
• Accreditations focused on sustainability (CDP, LEED, WELL, etc.) are advantageous.
• Expertise in engineering design, industry codes, guides, and standards across various projects is essential.
• Familiarity with earned value, contracts, and construction methods required.
• Proficient in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and implement various systems and processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey information clearly to design teams.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Team-oriented but able to work independently as necessary.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and environments.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic setting.
• Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and applicable engineering software.
• A proactive, self-starter attitude, willing to support and mentor others.
• Trustworthy, with an ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
